Looking Ahead with Gratitude and Vision
Dear Friends,
After over 20 years of extraordinary leadership, Cynthia Powell, Artistic Director of the Stonewall Chorale, has shared her intention to step down at the conclusion of our 50th Anniversary Season in June 2027.
Cynthia’s tenure has shaped Stonewall Chorale into what it is today: a joyful, resilient, and inclusive community of singers and supporters committed to creating transformative musical experiences. Her artistry, vision, and dedication have guided us through decades of growth, triumph, and celebration. As Cynthia herself wrote in a letter that she shared with the Board and the Chorale:

We are deeply grateful for Cynthia’s legacy, and we look forward to celebrating her throughout our 50th anniversary season, which will honor our history while ushering in a bold and hopeful future.
This fall, the Board of Directors will begin the process of identifying Stonewall’s next artistic leader—someone who will carry forward our mission and help shape the next chapter of our story. The search will formally launch in July, and we invite you to share it widely once it opens.
For now, we invite you to join us in offering our deepest thanks to Cynthia for her visionary leadership and enduring impact on our community. She will always remain a cherished part of the Stonewall family.
With gratitude,
Board of Directors
The Stonewall Chorale
Stay tuned for updates on the artistic director search launching this July.
