The Stonewall Chorale Archive

Since 1977, The Stonewall Chorale has sung at the intersection of music, community, activism, remembrance, and pride. As the nation’s first LGBTQIA+ choir, our history lives in the voices of our members and audiences, and in the programs, photographs, recordings, posters, press clippings, and stories gathered across the decades.

Our digital archive offers a glimpse into that legacy. Explore recordings from past performances, interviews, historical materials, and stories connected to items featured in our pop-up archive display. Together, these pieces help tell the story of a choir that has made music, made history, and created space for LGBTQIA+ voices to be heard.

About the Archive

The Stonewall Chorale Archive was founded in 2025 in anticipation of the chorale’s 50th anniversary season (fall 2026-spring 2027). The goal of the archive is to gather and record the history of The Stonewall Chorale and make it easily accessible to our audiences and members alike by collecting oral history interviews from past and current members, organizing and digitizing ephemera from the past 50 years, launching an immersive history page here on our website, and creating a pop-up exhibit to share our work during spring of 2027. We can’t wait to explore and celebrate 50 years of The Stonewall Chorale with you all.
