Dixit Dominus: Marianna Martines

Dixit Dominus

Dixit Dominus Domino meo: sede a dextris meis, donec ponam inimicos tuos scabellum pedum tuorum.

The Lord said unto my Lord: Sit thou on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

Virgam Virtutis Tuae

Virgam virtutis tuae emittet Dominus ex Sion: dominare in medio inimicorum tuorum.

The Lord shall send the rod of thy power out of Sion: be thou ruler, even in the midst among thine enemies.

Tecum Principium

Tecum principium in die virtutis tuae in splendoribus sanctorum: ex utero, ante luciferum, genui te.

In the day of thy power shall the people offer thee free-will offerings with an holy worship: the dew of thy birth is of the womb of the morning.

Juravit Dominus

Juravit Dominus et non poenitebit eum: tu es sacerdos in aeternum secundum ordinem Melchisedech.

The Lord sware, and will not repent: Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedech.

Dominus a dextris tuis

Dominus a dextris tuis: confregit in die irae suae reges. Judicabit in nationibus, implebit ruinas: conquassabit capita in terra multorum. De torrente in via bibet: propterea exaltabit caput.

The Lord upon thy right hand: shall wound even kings in the day of his wrath. He shall fill places with ruin and shatter heads over many lands. He shall drink of the brook in his path: therefore shall he lift up his head.

Gloria Patri

Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto,
Sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper,

Et in Saecula

Et in sæcula sæculorum. Amen.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, and now, and forever shall be,

World without end. Amen.

Requiem: W. A. Mozart

Introit and Kyrie

Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine,
et lux perpetua luceat eis.
Te decet hymnus, Deus, in Sion,
et tibi reddetur votum in Jerusalem.
Exaudi orationem meam,
ad te omnis caro veniet.
Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine,
et lux perpetua luceat eis.
Kyrie eleison.
Christe eleison.
Kyrie eleison.

Grant them eternal rest, O Lord,
and may perpetual light shine on them.
You, O God, are praised in Zion,
and to you shall the vow be performed in Jerusalem.
Hear my prayer,
unto you all flesh shall come.
Grant them eternal rest, O Lord,
and may perpetual light shine on them.
Lord have mercy upon us.
Christ have mercy upon us.
Lord have mercy upon us.

SEQUENTIA

1. Dies irae

Dies irae, dies illa

Solvet saeclum in favilla,

Teste David cum Sibylla.

Quantus tremor est futurus

Quando judex est venturus

Cuncta stricte discussurus.

Day of wrath, that day

Will dissolve the earth in ashes

As David and the Sibyl bear witness.

What dread there will be

When judgement shall come

To weigh all things strictly.

2. Tuba mirum

Tuba mirum spargens sonum

Per sepulcra regionum

Coget omnes ante thronum.

Mors stupebit et natura

Cum resurget creatura

Judicanti responsura.

Liber scriptus proferetur

In quo totum continetur

Unde mundus judicetur.

Judex ergo cum sedebit

Quidquid latet apparebit

Nil inultum remanebit.

Quid sum miser tunc dicturus

Quem patronum rogaturus

Cum vix justus sit securus?

A trumpet, spreading a wondrous sound

Through the graves of all lands

Will drive humanity before the throne.

Death and Nature shall be astonished

When all creation rises again

To answer to justice.

A written book will be brought forth

In which is contained everything

Out of which the world shall be judged.

When judgement takes the seat

Whatever is hidden will reveal itself

Nothing will escape.

What then shall I, so full of woe, say

What advocate entreat to speak for me

When even the righteous may not be secure?

3. Rex tremendae

Rex tremendae majestatis

Qui salvandos salvas gratis

Salve me, fons pietatis.

O Sovereign of awesome majesty

Who freely saves the redeemed

Save me, O fount of goodness.

4. Recordare

Recordare, Jesu pie

Quod sum causa tuae viae

Ne me perdas illa die.

Quaerens me sedisti lassus

Redemisti crucem passus

Tantus labor non sit cassus

Juste judex ultionis

Donum fac remissionis

Ante diem rationis.

Ingemisco tamquam reus

Culpa rubet vultus meus

Supplicanti parce, Deus.

Qui Mariam absolvisti

Et latronem exaudisti

Mihi quoque spem dedisti.

Preces meae non sunt dignae

Sed tu bonus fac benigne

Ne perenni cremer igne.

Inter oves locum praesta

Et ab haedis me sequestra

Statuens in parte dextra.

Remember, blessed Jesus

That I am the cause of your pilgrimage

Do not forsake me on that day.

Seeking me you sat down, weary

You redeemed me, suffering death on the cross

Let not such toil be in vain.

Ultimate justice

Give remission

Before the day of reckoning.

I groan with guilt

Culpability reddens my face

Spare me, God.

You pardoned Mary Magdalene

And heard the thief

To me also have you given hope.

My prayers are not worthy

But grant me merciful goodness

That I not burn in everlasting fire.

Place me among your sheep

And separate me from the goats

Set me on your right hand.

5. Confutatis

Confutatis maledictis

Flammis acribus addictis

Voca me cum benedictis.

Oro supplex et acclinis

Cor contritum quasi cinis

Gere curam mei finis.

When the accursed have been confounded

And given over to the bitter flames

Call me with the blessed.

I pray in supplication on my knees

My heart contrite as the dust

Safeguard my fate.

6. Lacrimosa

Lacrimosa dies illa

Qua resurget ex favilla

Judicandus homo reus.

Huic ergo parce, Deus

Pie Jesu Domine

Dona eis requiem.

Mournful that day

When from the dust shall rise

Mortals to be judged.

Therefore spare us, O God

Merciful Jesus, Lord

Grant them rest.

Offertorium

Domine, Jesu Christe, Rex gloriae

libera animas omnium fidelium defunctorum

de poenis inferni, et de profundo lacu

libera eas de ore leonis

ne absorbeat eas tartarus, ne cadant in obscurum

sed signifer sanctus Michael repraesentet eas in lucem sanctam

quam olim Abrahae promisisti et semini ejus

Lord Jesus Christ, King of glory

deliver the souls of all the faithful departed

from the pains of hell and the bottomless lake

deliver them from the lion’s mouth

neither let them fall into darkness nor the abyss swallow them

and let St. Michael lead them into the holy light

which once you promised to Abraham and his offspring

Sanctus

Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus

Dominus Deus Sabaoth

Pleni sunt coeli et terra gloria tua

Osanna in excelsis

Holy, holy, holy

Lord God of Sabbath

Heaven and earth are full of your glory

Hosanna in the highest

Benedictus

Benedictus qui venit in nomine Domini

Osanna in excelsis

Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord

Hosanna in the highest

Agnus Dei

Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi

dona eis requiem sempiternam

Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world

grant them everlasting rest

Communion

Lux aeterna luceat eis, Domine

cum sanctis tuis in aeternum

quia pius es

Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine

et lux perpetua luceat eis

May eternal light shine on them, O Lord

with your saints forever

because you are merciful

grant them eternal rest, O Lord

and may perpetual light shine on them
